Ugwafu & Banana Bark Tray
An earthy toned statement tray carefully woven by hand by one of WomenCraft’s 600 women artisans in Tanzania.
Each tray takes 10 days to weave using locally grown ugwafu grasses, together with white threads of upcycled 'gunia' grain sacks and the dried bark of local banana trees.
The combination of modern design and traditional weaving techniques, makes the trays versatile and sturdy while reinforcing the natural beauty of local materials. They are ideal as a serving tray or to keep belongings in a decorative way. They would also look lovely with some plants grouped together.
Our artisan partner WomenCraft's mission is to support women refugees to become entrepreneurs by using natural materials that grow around them to create income and business skills for independence.
