Made by Jackson and Filbert (our artisans in Tanzania), each piece takes a day to make and has its own unique wood grain, showcasing the raw natural beauty of African Blackwood. Jackson and Filbert use a traditional free hand technique that allows them to have more control of the shape so they can achieve a distinctly sculpted finish.
We work directly with our group of Makonde Wood Carvers who are renowned for their craftsmanship, a skill passed down for generations from father to son.
Your purchase supports job creation and helps to keep the tradition of wood carving in the Makonde tribe alive.

Material: African BlackwoodPlease note although the wood is called African Blackwood, it can sometimes have beautiful light grains and sections running through it.
Size: 17.5cm-18.5cm approx
Care: Hand wash gently in lukewarm water and dry thoroughly. Do not put in the dishwasher or leave soaking. Use food safe mineral oil when required to retain the natural finish of the wood.
